  • White House Communications Director Mike Dubke arrives in the East Room of the White House in Washington on April 20. Dubke has resigned as President Donald Trump considers a major staff overhaul

Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said Wednesday that he'd be willing to consider a White House communications role.

On Sunday, Trump pushed back against the recent reports of collusion between his administration and Russian officials.

Rep. Jamie Raskin is again calling for Jared Kushner's security clearance to be suspended after a published report said President Donald Trump's son-in-law and adviser attempted to set up a secret back channel to communicate with Russian officials to avoid USA intelligence monitoring.

Dubke wrote in a statement that it had been an honor to serve Trump and "my distinct pleasure to work side by side, day by day with the staff of the communications and press departments". Dubke cited noted personal reasons for his resignation.

It has become a regular occurrence at White House press briefings for Sean Spicer to be asked to clarify a tweet of President Trump's.

"Ultimately the best messenger is the president himself", Spicer said on Tuesday.

Given Trump's reputation for compulsive tweeting, however, it might not be long before Trump violates his own White House's new rule, and starts commenting on the issue again, against the advice of his attorneys.

Dubke is the founder of Crossroads Media, a GOP media relations firm, and co-founder at the Blackrock Group, a communications and public affairs firm.

But Spicer isn't the only White House staffer lavishing praise on Trump.

"I don't know how any comms person could not be frustrated in that position right now given the daily drama", a source close to him said. He later added: "It's an ongoing conversation, and that's a fair way to put it". Recently, when Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, Trump's stated reasons appeared to differ from those offered by White House spokespeople.Shortly after Trump's remarks on Twitter, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly made the rounds of Sunday television news shows to praise any so-called back channel communications, especially with Russian Federation, as "a good thing".Kushner made his secret communications proposal on December 1 or 2 at Trump Tower in NY, according to intercepts of Russian communications reviewed by United States of America officials, the Post reported late Friday.Schiff said he disagreed with White House National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster's suggestion that such back-channel communications might be typical and not concerning.

Trump wants to respond more aggressively to allegations of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and questions about investigations of possible ties between Trump's campaign and Moscow.

And on Tuesday, Michael Dubke, his communications director, resigned after being on the job for just three months.

The latest revelations to emerge last week involved Trump's son-in-law and top aide, Jared Kushner.

A separate set of reports surfaced around that same time claiming Kushner also discussed setting up a line of secret communication between Russian Federation and the Trump transition team.

A senior administration official said Kushner was keeping his head down and focusing on work after the foreign trip.
