The fact that the president is being investigated is an astonishing development on its own.

The shift toward probing Trump began days after Trump forced former Federal Bureau of Investigation chief James Comey to quit last month.

The US president has denied trying to influence the investigation, but has acknowledged in an interview that Russian Federation was on his mind when he dismissed Comey.

California Senator Dianne Feinstein has raised concerns that President Donald Trump will try to dismiss Rod Rosenstein and Robert Mueller, two officials involved in an ongoing probe into potential ties between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation.

If Trump is confirming the existence of an investigation targeting him, it would represent an extraordinary development less than five months into his presidency. Now, that's no longer the case.

Several top intelligence officials have agreed to be interviewed by Mueller's team, according to reports in both The Washington Post and New York Times.

Who is the special counsel planning to talk to and why do they matter? The Post said investigators had requested interviews with CIA Director, Dan Coats, National Security Agency chief Michael Rogers and Richard Ledgett, the former NSA deputy director.

Confidants and advisers close to Mr Trump said his fury was mounting at the probe and he had been yelling at TV sets about its press coverage.

Hanson's single through the gap brought in Omar Narvaez from third in the next inning, adding to Chicago's already sizable lead. Alen Hanson and Omar Narvaez added three hits each for Chicago. "I definitely barrelled it, but I wasn't sure", Martin said.

Notably, James Comey, who was sacked by Trump last month, publicly testified this month that Trump had told him to ease off on his former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who was under the FBI investigation for his Russian links.

A day or two later, Trump called Coats and Rogers separately, asking them to publicly deny the Trump campaign coordinated in any way with Russian Federation, the Post reported. This, too, could be a sign of the president acting inappropriately.

"Well, we were asked our opinion, and when we expressed it, which was consistent with the memorandum and the letter we wrote, I felt comfortable. and I guess the deputy attorney general did too", he said, "in providing that information in writing".

Everything about Manafort screams "shady operator", and his closeness to the president is of obvious concern to the White House, which has gone to hilarious lengths to distance itself from him. However, the Supreme Court ruled that officials can not invoke executive privilege to suppress evidence in a criminal probe.

Trump's associates, on the other hand, are easier game for the Justice Department. "Instead, experts say, the onus would be on Congress to review any findings of criminal misconduct and then decide whether to initiate impeachment proceedings".

Just 22 percent approved of Trump's decision to fire Comey.

A weekend at the rustic mountain getaway is a far cry from the president's normal routine of jetting off to one of his lavish resorts, mainly Mar-a-Lago in Florida.

"I think the best thing to do is to let Robert Mueller do his job", House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said.
