  • Bombs kill at least 7 in Mogadishu

Al Jazeera's Mohammed Adow, reporting from Nairobi, Kenya, said at least three heavily armed Al-Shabab gunmen have gained entry to the Nasa-Hablod hotel and that fighting was still going on.

Security forces cordoned off the area.

The second vehicle bomb exploded near the former parliament building, and the extent of damage caused by the second explosion is not yet clear.

Abdikadir Abdirahman, director of Mogadishu's Amin ambulance service, said 17 injured people had been carried away from the hotel blast.

Security officials said Saturday's bomber had pretended his truck had broken down outside the gate.

Farmajo was scheduled to meet the presidents of the Somalia's five federal republics at the hotel later in the evening, he said.

Nasa-hablood hotel is located near the presidential palace in Mogadishu.

Police say the death toll in a suicide auto bombing outside a popular hotel in Somalia's capital has risen to 13, with more than 16 people wounded.

The police personnel who died had been stationed close to hotel's gate.

"A vehicle loaded with explosives went off at the entrance of Nasa Hablod Hotel and there is gunfire", police official Ibrahim Mohamed told AFP, saying there was also "a minibus loaded with explosives which went off a nearby intersection".

It has not commented on the massive attack two weeks ago; experts have said the death toll was so high that the group hesitated to further anger Somali citizens as its pursues its insurgency.

According to an Al Jazeera tally, since the start of this year, more than 20 explosions have targeted Mogadishu, killing at least 500 people and injuring more than 630.

The Somali government blamed the October 14 blast on al-Shabab, but no group has claimed responsibility.

A second blast was heard in the area minutes after the first.

The attack comes two weeks after a massive truck bomb exploded in central Mogadishu, killing at least 358 people, making it the deadliest attack in the troubled country's history.
