  • Buccaneers shut down QB Winston for 'couple weeks'

The Buccaneers will lose starting quarterback Jameis Winston for "several weeks", to recover from a shoulder injury according to a report from NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.

Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter discussed the decision in his weekly, exclusive "Koetter's Korner" interview. Winston gave a weird pregame speech, then left the game with the shoulder injury, then instigated a fight with New Orleans' Marshon Lattimore.

Winston sprained the AC joint in his right shoulder on last month against Arizona, and he landed hard on that shoulder when he was sacked in the final minute of yesterday's first half against New Orleans. He originally suffered the injury in a Week 6 loss to the Cardinals.

It will be the first missed start for Winston, who started all 40 games since the Buccaneers used the first pick of the 2015 National Football League draft on him.

The Buccaneers will activate QB Ryan Griffin from injured reserve, and he'll back up Fitzpatrick until Winston is cleared for activity.

After a 384 yard, three touchdown passing game against the Buffalo Bills, Winston threw for 210 yards and no touchdowns at home against the Carolina Panthers.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, who replaced Winston on both occasions, will get the start for the Buccaneers (2-6) on Sunday against his former team - the New York Jets (4-5).

Winston completed 7-of-13 passes for 63 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions.
