Toulouse prosecutor Pierre-Yves Couilleau told France's BFM television that three students were injured on Friday when the motorist drove into the group.

Media reports suggested that all three students are of Chinese origin.

A vehicle has been driven into three students near the French city of Toulouse, leaving a woman in a serious condition. The incident occurred outside a college in the suburb of Blagnac.

The 28-year-old driver of the auto, known to the police for minor offences, was arrested at the scene, BFM TV reported.
