Tusk says the new version of the Roadster will be, "the fastest production auto ever made, period".
Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveiled the company's new fully electricsemi truck concept on Thursday night. The sports vehicle, described as a "hardcore smackdown to gasoline cars" by Musk, will have a range of almost 620 miles on a single charge and go from 0 to 100 mph in 4.2 seconds.
The four-seat convertible will also do the quarter mile in 8.9 seconds, which would be another record for a production auto.
At the company's design studio in Hawthorne, California, on Thursday evening, Tesla announced the details of its new all-electric semi truck. According to Ars Technica, the truck will have an impressive 500 mile range and a maximum load of 80,000, and will go into production in 2019. It also comes with a million-mile guarantee on its powertrain. The truck will also have an enhanced version of Tesla's semi-autonomous driving system, AutoPilot.
Musk said Tesla plans a worldwide network of solar-powered "megachargers" that could get the trucks back up to 400 miles of range after charging for only 30 minutes.

"I hope you like what you see", said Musk.
Tesla claims the electric costs of the Semi are half that of a traditional diesel semi truck, thanks to fewer systems to maintain (no transmission or brake pads to name a few), providing a number of over $200,000 United States dollars in fuel savings, and a two-year payback period. To reserve the base $200k Roadster, you'll need to make a $50,000 reservation now. The company says that will translate into thousands of dollars in savings. Inside the truck's cabin - tall enough for a driver to stand upright - there are two large touchscreen interfaces.
The family auto was supposed to be Tesla's opening to a broad market, with a sticker price starting at $35,000 - but production snags have meant that instead of making thousands of Model 3s each month, Tesla produced only 260 in September. Tesla estimates a two-year payback for the added cost of the truck, meaning more than $200,000 in saved fuel. The anemic number fell far short of expectations; the company had received 140,000 advance orders for the auto within hours of it being announced in the spring of 2016. Elon Musk recently described it as "production hell".
