  • Google launches Datally app that helps Pakistani Android users to save data

Google has released a new Android app that can help you monitor and control the amount of data you use. First, it allows users to see data usage on an hourly, daily, weekly or monthly basis and get personalized recommendations for how they can save more.

Datally also includes an option to stop all mobile data usage for every application not in an active window.

You can track your data and which apps use it the most through Google Datally.

Datally lists data consumption by apps and enables users to shut off the data access to apps which consume more data or apps which are not of much use to the user. The app was made keeping in mind countries where mobile data is relatively expensive. Google's Next Billion Users is a program aimed at getting people in emerging markets around the world access to the Web. Based on our limited time with Datally and the app's description on the Play Store, it doesn't like this functionality is still implemented. It will also prompt you to connect to nearby public WiFi (whenever available) and same with the data package. Once you're done, don't forget to rate the network quality to help other users. You can view where your data is headed via this app. The app has also been able to save people, on average, 30 percent of their data.

Control Data: Secondly the app helps control your data usage. It can help you find good Wi-Fi hotspots nearby so that you won't have to use your mobile data at all.

The app allows users to block individual apps from using mobile data and can display real-time data usage while an app is running.

To test this, I disabled Wi-Fi on my Pixel 2 XL and began streaming with Google Play Music, and running various apps that need to be online to work properly. That said, looking at the awful reviews SmartApp seems to have gotten on the Play Store, it doesn't look like it's going to be competition for Datally. A lot of them offer options to turn off a feature or service to lessen needed data to load.
