  • Flynn Said Russian Sanctions Would be 'Ripped Up,' Whistle-Blower Says

"But the exceptionally troubling allegations in this case - combined with ongoing obstruction from the White House and others - have made this step necessary".

Flynn's lawyer did not respond to a request for comment on the latest claims.

Flynn pleaded guilty Friday to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation during its probe of Russian interference in the presidential election, including about conversations with Russia's ambassador to the US about sanctions. And one of the companies involved in the project covered his travel expenses and wrote him a check for $25,000 for the trip, though it's not clear if Flynn cashed the check.

"Mike has been putting everything in place for us", Copson said, according to the whistleblower.

According to the whistleblower account, Copson said Flynn was making sure sanctions would be 'ripped up, ' which would allow money to start flowing to the project.

Former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn told a former business associate "within minutes" of President Donald Trump being sworn in on Inauguration Day that economic sanctions against Russian Federation would be "ripped up" once Trump gets into office, according to a whistleblower.

'Our committee has credible allegations that President Trump's National Security Advisor sought to manipulate the course of global nuclear policy for the financial gain of his former business partners, ' wrote Cummings, Politico reported in a story on the letter. The administration has not lifted sanctions on Russian Federation.

Cummings this week wrote a letter to Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-South Carolina, who chairs the House Ways and Means Committee, to ask that the whistleblower's claims be fully investigated.

But reports over the last few months have suggested that Flynn continued to promote the project after the election, and even after he had been sworn in as national security adviser.

The witness told congressional investigators that he was "extremely uncomfortable" with the conversation, Cummings wrote, and took brief notes about the discussion during the inaugural event.

Perhaps most intriguingly of all, Cummingswrites that he told Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team about all this some time ago - and that they asked him to delay publicly revealing this information "until they completed certain investigation steps".

Now, Mr Cummings wrote, he and his colleagues have been authorised to to go public with the information.

Mr Cummings said the source was "authentic, credible, and reliable", and offered to introduce the individual to Mr Gowdy. The whistleblower saw that the time stamp of the message was 12:11 pm, but did not read the text.

Flynn had worked as a consultant for ACU Strategic Partners, the group pushing the proposed nuclear deal, in 2015 and 2016.

As the whistleblower chatted with Flynn's associate during an Inauguration Day celebration on January 20, Flynn sent texts saying the associate's nuclear proposal was "good to go", the whistleblower said.

"This is going to make a lot of very wealthy people", Mr. Copson said.

ACU Strategic Partners has declined comment or make Mr Copson available for an interview.
