Ryanair offers to recognise unions in bid to avert Xmas strikes

Ryanair has offered to meet with IMPACT on Tuesday, and has called on the unions to call off threatened action next week.
Confirmation that the meeting with Impact will now take place Tuesday in advance of the Wednesday deadline was confirmed by Ryanair on Saturday.
Unions were yet to give their response but Ryanair's chief executive, Michael O'Leary, said: "Christmas flights are very important to our customers and we wish to remove any worry or concern that they may be disrupted by pilot industrial action next week".
Ryanair has agreed to recognise pilots' unions in an attempt to avert Christmas strikes in a "significant change" from its long-standing position.
In October, Mr O'Leary wrote to his airline's pilots to offer them better pay and conditions after Ryanair was forced to cancel thousands of flights.
Ryanair earlier said British union BALPA and Italian union ANPAC had agreed to meet with Ryanair in early January.
