  • Radiohead Deny Lana Del Rey Lawsuit

Lana Del Rey, known for her spacey musical compositions that have featured collaborations from hip-hop superstars like The Weeknd, A$AP Rocky and Playboi Carti, is in a whole bunch of trouble with the attorneys representing living musical legends Radiohead.

Warner/Chappell has now issued a statement, which claims no lawsuit has been filed and Radiohead have not demanded all the publishing rights for Del Rey's song "Get Free".

A spokesperson for Warner/Chappell has now contradicted Del Rey's statements, claiming that while their lawyers had been in contact with Del Rey's team over the track, no legal action had yet been taken. "Although I know my song wasn't inspired by "Creep", Radiohead feel it was and want 100% of the publishing", she wrote. "Their lawyers have been relentless, so we will deal with it in court", she added.

It may have been an irresistible headline: Radiohead sues Lana Del Rey! The dispute is over similarities between her song and Radiohead's "Creep". Eventually, however, a compromise was worked out where the song's writers Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood were giving credit and a percentage of royalties.

We were pretty much in the Test match on all days. "It definitely ranks as one of my favourite Test matches". Also we rectified the errors we made in the first innings by letting them off after having them 12/3.

"I do want to say there's a particular song that Radiohead want 100% of my publishing for", she began.

So, technically, if the Radiohead camp go its way, the band, Hazlewoord and Hammond would be credited as co-writers of "Get Free" alongside Del Rey and co-writers Rick Nowels and Kieron Menzie.

She told fans that "regardless of what happens in court", she stood by the song's message of rejecting negativity and embracing a more positive mindset. Prior to litigation, both sides may also engage their own musicologists to study the similarities between the two compositions.
