Stu Grayson and Evil Uno of the Dark Order eventually reunited for a massive league opportunity by challenging Kenny Omega and Hangman Page for the AEW Team World Championships. It is worth noting the first appearance of Anna Jay with the enigmatic faction of the heel, as short as it could have been.
Page jumped at Uno and Grayson in front of the bell, forcing Omega to rush in and back again. Tension erupted supremely between the babyfaces as referee Rick Knox called for the bell.
The champions overtook the opposition early on, but Evil Uno brought down Page and seized control of the match, using joint manipulation as they aimed the Hangman’s big right. The heels cut the ring and isolated his partner in the business break.
During the break, Omega tagged in the match and connected a babyface comeback as Brodie Lee was watching over Colt Cabana on a commentary. Page̵7;s hard right-footed shot drove Uno in anticipation of Omega, who knocked him down with a German Suplex.
At one point, Omega sent Grayson into the corner, but instead, he climbed on the ring pole and onto Page. Uno capitalized on Omega’s disbelief and almost grabbed the win. Uno’s corner kick and 450 Grayson spills almost earned the punches.
Omega responded with a snapdragon to Uno and Page removed Grayson with a lariat. The Buckshot Lariat / V-Trigger team won the championship.
After the match, Lee ordered Cabana and Anna Jay in the back before defeating and verbally attacking Uno and Grayson.
Lee said The Dark Order has strength in numbers and Page bred him for the last time. Dark Order minions circled the ring, but The Young Bucks and the FTR teamed up to tag the label for a brawl with the evildoers. The babyfaces cleared the ring, leaving Lee to sarcastically thank Omega for “showing up.”
Page and Omega defeated The Dark Order
This was, without a doubt, the best Grayson and Uno looked for in the AEW.
They were crisp, managed to shine against the champions and were very dubious regarding their current abilities in the ring.
Winning Page and Omega was the right call, especially if he continues to push Lee into the mode of despair. The Dark Order has not yet reigned supreme Wednesday night, though, a problem for a group we are supposed to believe is this hugely dangerous entity in the AEW.
Once they manage to capture that defining victory, they will be a force to be reckoned with. They, after all, have a really solid heart with Uno, Grayson, Jay and Lee. Arms in Colt Cabana’s associate and there’s a lot to do with what Tony Khan and AEW management are putting together.
Remove the training wheels and let them win a game and their credibility improves exponentially.
The subtle and not-so-subtle teases of renewed tension between Page and Omega were well executed and once again fans think a breakup is on the horizon.
