When Hawkeye appears as a playable character Avengers Marvel from Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics, it seems the character can wear hearing aids, as he does in comics. During yesterday’s Avengers War Table flow, Hawkeye was revealed to be a playable character who came to the game after the launch. In addition to a teaser trailer, several parts of concept art have been revealed. One image of the character appears to show Hawkeye wearing a pair of hearing aids, though not clear from the image. ComicBook.com welcomed Crystal Dynamics for confirmation and was given the following response:
“While this is our unique acceptance of Clint Barton̵7;s Hawkeye, his character and story are absolutely inspired by some of Hawkeye’s best-known moments in comics. We look forward to providing more information. about our Hawkeye version of Clint Barton coming soon. “
It will be interesting to see if Crystal Dynamics is planning to incorporate this aspect of Hawkeye’s story into the game! The character lost his hearing after meeting a villain during Matt Fraction and David Aja run on the Hawkeye solo comic. It is impossible to say for sure if this aspect will be included in the game, but with the DLC seeming to refer to other elements of the Hague Fraction and run, it seems like a distinct possibility!
Crystal Dynamics has shown a lot of interest in doing Avengers Marvel inclusive game. The title will offer multiple interfaces for players with low visual vision, as well as controllable controls. Last but not least, the game is also introducing a new Inhuman character named Cerise, who happens to be in a wheelchair. In order for the character’s movements to be authentic, the team even brought in accessibility specialist Cherry Thompson to provide movement capture for Cerise. Given the effort that Crystal Dynamics seems to be putting in to make the game more representative of the real world, it seems to Clint that he is deaf fits well with the game the developer is building.
Avengers Marvel will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Microsoft Windows, and Google Stadia. You can check out all of our previous coverage Avengers Marvel here.
