With events people canceled, artists are bringing their talents online to entertain fans. The Weeknd is one of the last to offer music lovers the opportunity to take the show home.
After he released his newest album After Hours in March, he spent time on the interview circuit explaining the aesthetics and meaning behind the project. Now, The Weeknd is giving fans a way to see and feel the energy of its music in a virtual and creative format.
The week after “After Hours” scored a high level in streams and reviews
On March 20, The Weeknd dropped their fourth studio album, immediately ranking best on Billboard as soon as it debuted. At the time of its release, it was the most successful album of 2020, bringing in over 200 million streams in its first week and over 440,000 sales.
Fans love it and are keeping the numbers up this summer. Rolling Stone review matched After Hours for previous works of The Weeknd, and noted that it has the sound of his entire signature.
The magazine praised the project: “This vocal finesse is all over the album, reminding us that Tesfaye is easily one of the most talented singers of the generation of her generation, able to make for the forlorn cocktail of that which made Al Green for love and happiness. “
Most of the album’s sales were tied to tour tickets, but due to COVID-19, The Weeknd postponed the dates until 2021. Meanwhile, there is an alternative.
