Ubisoft’s Hyper Scape, the futuristic free-to-play futuristic studio shooter for gaming, will be released on August 11 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game is currently in open beta on the PC, but that beta will only run for a few more days, ending on August 2.
Launch day marks the first time the game will be available on consoles. When it finishes, Ubisoft will also introduce a new weapon, new limited-time game modes, and a 100-level battle pass, and more, according to a tweet from the official Hyper Scape Twitter account.
Hyper Scape was announced for the first time just this month with a technical test that was available on July 2 for some Twitch and YouTube creators. Within 30 minutes of the start of their streams, the game was stripped at the top of the Twitch charts. (Right now, it̵7;s much less popular on Twitch, but maybe that will change when the game is publicly available.)
My colleague Nick Statt went through the technical test, and he found it fast and chaotic with some interesting ideas to make it out of other royale battle games. But Hyper Scape is a late participant in an already crowded genre that includes popular games like these Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone, PUBG, u Apex legends.
Ubisoft is currently under heavy scrutiny following widespread allegations of abuse and harassment across the company, which has resulted in the departure of multiple executives. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot explained a number of internal changes that came to the company in an email sent to staff on July 2, and last week, Ubisoft announced that employee bonuses be linked to their “ability to create a positive and inclusive work environment.”
