The Daily Social Distancing Show with Trevor Noah today I presented two views of the argument on federal law enforcement intervention.
In a montage in which various pundits talk about the presence of federal attorneys in Portland, Oregon, the Daily Show showed the same group of people arguing a few years earlier against federal intervention in a 2014 case in Nevada Cliven Bundy grader.
Bundy was an independent rancher who got into a confrontation over whether he had the right to let his cows graze on federal lands.
Protesters in Oregon are attacking federal buildings as part of a protest that began as a George Floyd riot, but recently a somewhat nebulous Antifa street demonstration took place, one that even NAACP president Portland claims has removed the original attention.
In Bundy’s case, the government confiscated his cows, leading to support from fellow ranchers and others against a perception of government overreach when both sides face off.
In the Portland case, attorneys are trying to protect federal property from being damaged or destroyed by those who oppose the system and want to replace it.
Are the mountains showing us hypocrisy in the media? Or a comparison of apples and oranges of two totally different situations? Watch the video and decide for yourself.
